Consistent, reliable GCSE maths

This is our third term using Getaheadoftheclass for GCSE maths tuition, and as always, the quality has been really consistent. My daughter had the same tutor for all three terms which helped a lot with continuity. They're very dependable, always on time, and the feedback after each session is clear. We've used other services before, but we keep coming back here because of the reliability and how well they understand the curriculum.

Good mock exam experience

Booked an 11 plus mock exam for my son. The booking process online was straightforward, just took a few minutes. I got a confirmation email pretty quickly with all the details. The exam itself was well-organized; they even gave us feedback on his performance a few days later, which was really helpful for understanding his weak areas. The venue was easy to find and the staff on the day were very professional. It wasn't cheap, but the insights gained were worth it. It gave us a good benchmark and helped us decide what to focus on next. No issues with delivery or support, everything was smooth.

Great 11 plus support

My son just finished the 11 plus exam preparation course and it was amazing! He really enjoyed the lessons and the tutors made learning so much fun. His confidence grew a lot. I'm so happy with his progress and will definitely use Getaheadoftheclass again for my younger daughter when her time comes. Highly recommend them!

Just curious, do they do any kind of discount if I have two kids joining? Like a sibling thing?

J John 1 week ago
Yep, they do sibling discounts. I got one when I enrolled both my boys.

Definitely. Ask them when you sign up, I think it's usually around 10% off for the second child.

Has anyone used them for GCSE maths? How do they compare to like, Kip McGrath? Heard good things about both.

P Paul Young 3 weeks ago
I used them for my daughter's GCSEs, and it was brilliant. Tutors were super knowledgeable. Can't speak for Kip McGrath though.

We tried Kip McGrath first and it was okay, but Get Ahead was more focused on specific exam techniques my son needed. Felt more personalized.

Hey, wondering about the free assessment thing. Is it actually free or like, do they try to upsell you hard afterwards?

L Laura White 1 month ago
Yeah, it's genuinely free. They just give you a report on where your kid is at. No pressure to sign up.

Mine was free, no weird sales pitch. They just sent an email with the results and some info about their programs, but it wasn't pushy.

What's the deal with payment? Is it always monthly or can you pay for like, a whole term at once?

B Brian Anderson 1 week ago
You can pay termly, and I think they even offer a discount for doing that. Or monthly if you prefer.

I pay monthly, but my neighbor pays for the term. Both options are available.

Are the tutors actually properly checked out? Like DBS and all that jazz?

O Olivia Lopez 2 weeks ago
Yeah, they are. My tutor mentioned it during our initial chat, said it's standard.

They definitely do DBS checks. I remember seeing it mentioned on their site somewhere.

Thinking of signing up for the 11 plus prep. Anyone know if there's usually a discount for booking a bunch of sessions upfront?

J Jennifer 1 month ago
I think so. My friend got a pretty good deal when she booked a whole term for her son last year.

Yeah, they definitely do block booking discounts. Not sure on the exact percentage but it's worth asking about when you're inquiring.

My kid needs help with creative writing for the 11 plus. Are their workshops any good? Or is it mostly just practice papers?

E Eric Hill 2 weeks ago
My daughter did the creative writing workshops and loved them. Really helped her brainstorm ideas and structure stories better. It's not just practice papers.

Nah, they definitely do actual creative writing. My son's tutor gave him really specific feedback, not just 'write more'.
